Two full time Occupational Therapist Posts in Johannesburg available

 

Post 1:

Laura Serman is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join her in a school based practice 3/4 mornings a week from September/October 2017.
The successful candidate will be required to do the following:

  • Work with a team comprised of a speech therapist, Remedial therapist play therapist and the relevant teacher
  • Comprehensive assessment and treatment of paediatric clients within the school environment.
  • Running of groups
  • Report writing
  • Parent interviews and feedback.

 

Requirements

  • Recognised Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with HPCSA
  • Active malpractice insurance
  • Interest in paediatric therapy. Experience in paediatric will be advantageous however training/supervision will be provided.
  • Proactive and able to work independently
  • Good assessment and report writing skills
  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative
  • Good time management
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Own transport, flexible

 

Remuneration will be based on experience and qualifications.

Post 2: 

Start date 1 November 2017.

The successful applicant will initially cover maternity leave and stay on in a full time capacity thereafter. The primary practice is situated in a medical center in Norwood, Johannesburg but services a school for Autistic children in Parktown 3 mornings a week. The practice uses a Sensory Integrative Frame of Reference that is DIR Floortime informed

 

Requirements:

  • Recognised Degree in Occupational Therapy with a minimum of 2 years experience
  • Registration with HPCSA
  • Active malpractice insurance
  • Interest in a wide variety of paediatric cases and preferably previous exposure to children on the ASD spectrum
  • Training or experience in Sensory integration or DIR:Floortime is preferable.
  • Proactive and able to work independently as well as within a team with parents and teachers
  • Good assessment skills
  • Good report writing skills
  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative
  • Good time management
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Own transport with valid driver’s license

 

Other information:

  • Remuneration is based on clients seen.
  • Supervision will be provided at regular intervals
  • Interviews with short listed applicants will take place at end of August 2017
